Date: June 9, 2025
Location: FishTech, Bestobe Trout Farm
Bestobe, Kazakhstan – [June 9, 2025] — FishTech was honored to welcome a Japanese delegation to its Bestobe trout farm as part of a feasibility survey funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This visit is part of a broader initiative under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), aimed at promoting sustainable technologies that contribute to the economic and social development of Kazakhstan.
The project is being implemented by Furatt Gosei Co., Ltd. and Daichu Corporation, two Japanese companies officially selected by JICA to conduct a SDGs Business Needs Confirmation Survey for salmonid farm equipment in Kazakhstan. The initiative aims to assess the feasibility of introducing cutting-edge Japanese aquaculture technologies to support the growth of the salmonid farming industry in the region.
During their visit to Bestobe, the Japanese survey team had the opportunity to:
- Observe trout farming operations in a local setting;
- Discuss Kazakhstan’s aquaculture development needs;
- Present Japanese technologies and explore their applicability in local production conditions.
FishTech expressed strong interest in becoming a regional leader in adopting Japanese technologies and methods. The company is more than willing to be the first in Kazakhstan to implement advanced Japanese hatchery solutions and methodologies, setting a precedent for innovation and becoming a pioneer in modern aquaculture development.
“We are pleased to host international experts who share our vision for sustainable aquaculture,” said Shyngys Maksutbekuly, CEO of FishTech. “This collaboration marks an important step in strengthening knowledge exchange and exploring innovative solutions that can elevate Kazakhstan’s fish farming sector.” We are excited about the opportunity to lead the way in adopting proven Japanese technologies that can transform hatchery operations and set a new standard for the industry.”
This JICA-supported survey is expected to pave the way for deeper cooperation between Kazakh and Japanese stakeholders in the aquaculture industry. By identifying practical needs and matching them with proven technologies, the initiative supports both local development goals and global sustainability efforts.
